Breast Star for the Grand Cross of the Iron Cross - Hindenburg Star
The Hindenburg Star, also known as the Breast Star for the Grand Cross of the Iron Cross, was introduced in the Weimar Republic to give the Grand Cross holders of the Iron Cross a special award. It was awarded on the occasion of the Hindenburg Campaign 1914-1918 during the First World War and in the following years as a symbolic tribute to merits and sacrifices.
