Order of St. Albert of Saxony, Knight's Cross, 1st Class with Crown
The Order of Albrecht was founded in 1850 by King Frederick Augustus II of Saxony and was used to recognize both civilian and military achievements. The Knight's Cross, 1st Class, was one of the higher ranks of the order and was worn as a breast badge. This particular version, with the crown, signifies an especially prestigious award. The cross features a green-enameled, gold-edged Maltese cross with a medallion depicting Duke Albrecht the Bountiful, surrounded by a white ring bearing the motto "ALBERTUS ANIMOSUS" (Albrecht the Bountiful). The added crown visually distinguishes this version and makes it a particularly distinguished and prestigious rank of the order.
