Austria, Imperial Leopold Order – Star to the Grand Cross
The Order of Leopold, founded by Emperor Francis I in 1808, was one of the highest honors bestowed by the Habsburg Monarchy. The Grand Cross, with its associated breast star, represented the highest rank within the order. The breast star consists of an eight-pointed silver star with a medallion superimposed upon it, featuring a red enamel cross with the golden inscription "INTEGRITATI ET MERITO" (For Integrity and Merit). This prestigious insignia was primarily awarded to high-ranking officials.
