Austria, Imperial Order of Leopold – Star of the Grand Cross with War Decoration and Swords
The Order of Leopold, founded by Emperor Francis I in 1808, was one of the highest decorations of the Habsburg Monarchy. This breast star, belonging to the Grand Cross rank, features the rare variant with a war decoration and crossed swords, awarded for exceptional service rendered directly in the face of the enemy. The eight-pointed silver star bears the order's insignia in its center: a red enamel cross with the golden inscription "INTEGRITATI ET MERITO" (For Integrity and Merit). The crossed swords indicate that the decoration was awarded for military service during wartime.
