Saxony Albrecht Order Knight's Cross 1st Class with Swords and Crown
The Order of St. Albrecht was an order of merit of the Kingdom of Saxony, established on December 31, 1850, by King Frederick Augustus II. It was named after Duke Albrecht the Courageous (d. 1500), an important representative of the Saxon princely house and progenitor of the Albertine line of the Wettin dynasty. The order recognized outstanding services to the state and society, both in the civil and military spheres.
The order was awarded in several classes, with the Knight's Cross 1st Class representing one of the intermediate but prestigious levels. The award with swords was given exclusively for exceptional valor or merit in war, while the addition of a crown marked a particularly honorable gradation within the respective class. The combination "with swords and crown" was therefore reserved only for particularly deserving officers, for example, in cases of repeated distinction or in connection with outstanding military leadership.
